Beauty Buzz With Model Sonalika Sahay
Zodiac Sign : Gemini
Career highlights: I've shot with fashion designers such as Ritu Kumar, Ravi Bajaj, JJ Valaya and Sunit Verma. I've also done the Maruti Esteem commercial and several print ads.
I kickstart my day with a glass of warm water spiked with honey and lemon, followed by five almonds soaked overnight. I love to eat a lavish breakfast of wholewheat bread and cheese, juice, cereal, sprouts or fresh fruit.
One beauty rule I always follow is to keep my skin clean. This is especially vital for me because I spend a lot of time under harsh studio lights, which stresses the skin out.
My skin loves good quality moisturisers from brands such as Clarins, and loads of water. I have dry skin; keeping it hydrated is essential for me.
My hair loves : L'Oréal products and Nova Mousse. I have curly hair so I have to be very gentle with it.I brush my hair only while conditioning, and then just let it dry naturally.
My beauty routine: I clean my face morning and evening, and regularly use moisturiser, gel and night cream. beauty
My fitness mantra: Make a trip to the gym at least four times a week. On each visit, I do about one-and-a-half hours of cardio, weights and aerobics.
I pamper my eyes with Clarins gel! I take care to remove eye make-up very gently, because that's the most delicate part of the face.
Pre-party quick-fix: Minimum make-up, lots of mascara. If I'm having a bad hair day, I tie a headband or scrunch up my hair into a neat pony.
Best beauty advice: Beauty comes from within, but it is equally important to care for your skin so that you glow from the outside in, too!

International Beauty
Other Brazilian beauty secrets that I particularly like for their simplicity are the use of beach sand and coffee grounds as exfoliants and cellulite reducers.
So next time you're just sitting on the beach, don't just sit there...do like the women of Brazil do and start rubbing some sand into your suntan oil. Your thighs will thank you!
If you're not close to the beach, try Lush's Sandstone Bar which was inspired by these Brazilian beauties!

The Indian woman relies on various spices, dairy products and food items to achieve a flawless complexion. Thus popular Indian beauty tips profess the use of gram flour and turmeric to scrub the face clean while lemon juice mixed with honey makes for a great bleaching pack.
In fact, Indian beauty secrets are replete with such homemade medication. You will find the Indian woman reaching out for her concoction of cucumber juice, glycerin and rose water instead of the sun block cream obtained from the store shelf, while her toiletry includes lemon, milk, saffron and salt.
Lemon rubbed over freckles lightens them while a little alum over lemon is a guaranteed antidote to mottled and pigmented complexion. Milk and salt applied on the skin softens it. Using saffron with milk to counter pigmentation is a widely recommended Indian beauty tip while honey is used as a moisturizer.
Solah Shringar--or 16 adornments--is an integral part of every Indian bride-to-be’s beautifying ritual. It starts with an oil massage before the bath, an application of gram flour, turmeric and mustard oil or butter, culminating in a bath in milk and rose water. This 16-step ritual encompasses the conventional cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine that all beauty experts stress on.

Asian women and particularly Indian and women of the Middle East are noted for their extremely beautiful eyes. And with a little definition, these eyes simply look ethereal. Thus a dash of pale green, cool gray or peach colored eye shadow, a forest green or brown eyeliner or kohl smudged for a smoky eyed look are the oft-advised Asian beauty tips on eye makeup.
Asian beauty secrets profess plum hues with red, brown or mauve undertones for lips that speak volumes. Beiges and pink mauves also complement Asian looks while Asian beauty tips are unanimous on one point: bright pinks and oranges are a definite no-no for soft Asian features.
Asian women have hair that is generally thicker than that of the rest of the world’s population. Hence they do not take well to lightening and generally end up looking garish. However, this thickness enables Asian women to experiment with various flattering haircuts.
A preference for all things natural is evident in the Asian beauty tips practiced in the spas. Here you will find beauty treatments like detoxification with pure sea salts, the use of milk, yogurt, papaya and buttermilk as skin softeners and various aromatherapy oils like lavender, ylang-ylang, sandalwood and rosemary.
Also high on the natural beauty tips list is the white camellia nut oil, widely used by the Japanese women for hydrating and softening the skin. It is especially beneficial for treating pregnancy-related stretch marks (Titanic star Kate Winslet had used it) and inducing hair growth. It is also popular as a facial oil.
Seaweed is a popular presence in the Japanese beauty tips. It possesses excellent cleansing and toning properties and is reputed to impart an ethereal glow to the skin.
The Chinese beauty tips swear by their white tea, with its much-publicized anti-ageing properties.
Asian beauty secrets are actually quite simple to follow and they are becoming increasingly popular as a means to achieve that rare Asian charm and grace.

Skin Smarts
What is the #1 thing that celebrities do to keep their skin looking fabulous?
Stay out of the sun. “I had one young actress come to me and I ended up turning her away because she wouldn’t stop going to tanning booths and the beach,” says Dakar. If you need proof of what the sun does to your skin, just compare a section of your bod that never sees the sun [like your belly] to a section that does [your forearm] and note the difference in texture. Most stars are pretty sun-savvy-either they prefer to stick with their natural fair-skinned tone, like Nicole Kidman or Scarlett Johansson, or they’re like Christina Aguilera, who gets her bronze-Betty look from self-tanner instead of hours spent in the sun. The easiest way to make sunscreen a part of your daily beauty regimen is to buy either a moisturizer or a tinted moisturizer that contains an SPF. “For the face, I suggest nothing less than SPF 15,” says Dakar. Also, don’t forget other sun-sensitive areas like the earlobes and, if you part your hair, keep in mind that your exposed scalp can also be burned.
Do celebrities eat anything special to make their skin look so good?
While we know that eating chocolates isn’t going to give you acne, that doesn’t mean you have free reign to go and devour the whole drive-thru and expect a glowy complexion. “It’s important to get the right vitamins for your skin,” says Dakar. For teen clients she always suggests zinc [found in meat, milk, and beans], vitamin C [citrus fruits], and flaxseed oil [can be bought at the health food store and drizzled over a salad]. Zinc and vitamin C work to protect the skin and strengthen it. Flaxseed oil actually has the power to thin the blood in your skin a little bit so pores may not get as clogged. All three of these help the skin to heal more quickly, which, if you’ve ever picked a zit, you know can take a while. “Also, don’t forget to drink water,” adds Dakar, “without it your skin can look dry and tired.” Not that you need to go on a crazy diet to have good skin, just remember to balance out the fries with lots of natural stuff like fruits and veggie—these naturally contain a lot of vitamins and minerals your body needs, plus, they’re more filling than popping a pill!
THE BEST WAY TO GET SAFE SUN
1. When hitting the beach or pool, always coat your entire body with a generous amount of broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with at least SPF 15; look for zinc oxide or Parsol 1789 in the ingredients.
2. Protect your face with oil-free SPF 15-and-higher sunscreens; don’t forget your ears, nose, the part in your hairline, and lips.
3. Show off sun-savvy chic with a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses with UV protection.
4. If you know you’ll be sweating, coat yourself with a sweat-proof sunblock.
5. Always apply sunscreen 30 minutes before you go outside, giving it time to be absorbed into your skin; reapply sunscreen every two hours and after swimming.
6. Everyday, rain or shine, slather on body and face moisturizers that contain SPF 15. Damaging sun rays can shoot through your clothing and harm your skin—a white T-shirt only has an SPF of 8.
7. Be extra careful in the sun if you have pale skin, freckles, light eyes, blond or red hair, or are on antibiotics.

Genelia D'souza
With an eye-catching smile and next generation girl's looks, this cutie damsel is now Bollywood's newest pin-up girl.
Here Genelia is sharing her fashion secrets...
Favourite designers: I'm not a very highly styled person. I'm more of a tee-and-jeans girl. However, I like Armani, Zara and Manish Malhotra. I loved what Ashley Rebello did for Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, everyone's style was unique. I also like working with different designers and love the look Surily Goel put together for me in my next film It's My Life with Harman Baweja.
Favourite shopping destination: I dig comfort, and I like to shop in Dubai. You get all the brands there and it's just a two hours flight from Mumbai.
Fashion crime: Wearing something that doesn't suit you, your style or your personality. It's a crime to wear things just because they are in vogue.
Style mantra: My signature style is jeans and a T-shirt. But when I have to dress up, I like wearing stilettos, wedge heels or pumps. If I need to look glam, I go in for the classic look with a white shirt, blue jeans and pumps.
Favourite Colours: White and blue. I love wearing vibrant colours once in a while.
What do you splurge on? I like buying them where I go. Same goes for sunglasses, shoes and bags.
Always in my bag: Perfume, cell phone, sunglasses, mascara, light lip gloss and khol.
One thing that I want to buy: I wouldn't mind a nice watch sometime soon.
My winter style: I love dressing up in winter. I dig colourful mufflers, jackets with lot of pockets, cosy sweaters, nice tights and colourful socks. I have fun layering, mixing and matching.
Day style: Jeans and a T-shirt. I like to keep it simple.
On a night out: May be a nice dress or jeans with a nice shirt and high heels.
On a bad hair day: I tie it all up.

Jessica Biel
1. Change is good!
Jessica Biel’s trainer, Jason Walsh, likes to keep his client mentally stimulated. “I’m a big advocate of recreational sports and stuff. If someone can get out there, even if it’s a hike or something like that, just to break up the monotony of going to the gym…I really like that.”
2. Hard work is even better.
According to Walsh, Biel’s workouts are intense. “We do full body movements. You are pretty much using as many muscles at once, which in turn will jack that heart rate up.”
3. Food is not the enemy.
If you’re out and about as Walsh recommends, you need snacks and drinks to give you sustained energy. He suggests “really organic and clean foods, all natural, like nuts.” Also, “an amino acid drink, so that you’re not burning up a lot of your muscle, or protein.”
4. Everything old is new again.
Walsh loves to use medicine balls with his intermediate to advanced level clients. “Get a medicine ball and do a lunge with a twist while you are holding the ball. Those are great. You are activating so many muscles at once, and you are using those muscles over so many different plains.”
5. Healthy meals can be tasty.
Harley Pasternak, who works with Eva Mendes and Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl, taught both of the actresses how to cook meals with some easy, healthy substitutions. “Breakfast would be whole grain bread French toast with egg whites and cinnamon. For a mid-morning snack, they’d do a mixed-berry protein shake. Lunch might be sweet potato tuna melt. An afternoon snack might be hummus with celery sticks. Dinner would be spaghetti and meatballs with spaghetti squash and meatballs made of turkey or chicken breast.”
6. Just because it’s trendy doesn’t mean it works.
Pasternak doesn’t do yoga or pilates with his clients. “Those are great forms of exercise for stability and balance, but neither one of those is going to change your body dramatically like training with weights does.”
7. The “F” word is not all bad.
Rachel McAdams’ trainer, Jerry Owen, says, “The biggest problem is that people are fat phobic. It¹s clinically proven that we need healthy fat in our diets. You need to eat a balanced diet but not be afraid of fat, like Omega 3 fatty acids like walnuts, olive oil and even coconut oil.”
8. Focus on your whole body - not just problem areas.
Owens tells Us the best way to lose weight and tone up is “to blend nutrition, exercise, and physical therapy. The body responds better. People get too wrapped up in doing isolated movement, like being very body part specific.”
9. All Cardio and no lifting makes for bad workouts.
“People get too cardio-crazy and need to do more weight lifting,” says Owens. He explains that for many people on elliptical machines, “their heart Rate is about the same as if they were shopping around a mall.”
10. Everybody needs a break.
Owens delivers the best news possible: working out for more than an hour is a “waste of time.” He suggests gym-goers “take one to two days off a week: have a massage, make sure you get plenty of rest. The muscles actually change when they’re recovering.”
Jessica Biel’s trainer, Jason Walsh, likes to keep his client mentally stimulated. “I’m a big advocate of recreational sports and stuff. If someone can get out there, even if it’s a hike or something like that, just to break up the monotony of going to the gym…I really like that.”

Jessica Alba
Before you scream "Wait Jessica Alba is a genetically gifted super freak! I'm sure everyone in her family looks like Greek gods!", remember, she's said in a bunch of interviews that most of her family is overweight. She started cooking her own food at age 12 'cause she didn't want to be overweight also.
The Sun reports Jessica Alba saying: “When I eat breakfast I’ll have an egg-white omelette and fruit, or cottage cheese and a peach.” Look, I'm sure no one out there thought that Jessica Alba ate Fruit Loops for breakfast. And no one reading this thinks that she skips breakfast. It's not that surprising to find out what the secret is: Jessica Alba eats several small meals per day made up of good whole foods.
And, as I've written about before - Jessica does really smart circuit training workouts and she includes some my personal favorite big compound movements like squats lunges.
Back to the story from Cosmo. Look, every month they publish 73 trillion new things a girl can do to drive her boyfriend wild! Or how to seduce any man in the supermarket, no matter what aisle he's in! Or how to be her guy's ultimate sex fantasy! I think it's a little simpler than they usually make it seem:
I think every guy's biggest fantasy is a girl who eats good whole food, in several small meals per day, and does circtuit training that includes big movements like squats and lunges.
Feel free to do some lunges right now. You can pick up the fruit, veggies and lean meat on the way home.
Actually, lets do it Cosmo style - "5 things you can do right now to be 10x sexier!"
1.) Try a circuit of 16 lunges (8 per leg) and 8 pushups (can be full pushups, knee pushups, or hands on a table pushups). See how many circuits you can do in 10 minutes, resting as needed.
2.) Interval cardio: 15 minutes - alternating between one minute sprinting and two minutes walking.
3.) Go to the supermarket or local farmer's market and stock up on your favorite in-season fruits and vegetables. You might also want to get some brown rice and oatmeal.
4.) At the supermarket, fish market or local butchers, get some fish, chicken, pork, bison or lean beef. Get your favorite, or a variety - but get enough so you've got some good protein for the whole week.
5.) Cook up the meat, fish or chicken with your favorite spices and veggies. Portion it out for individual meals, and refridgerate or freeze it in perfectly portioned meals.

· Warm-up for 10-15 minutes to bring your heart rate up on the treadmill or elliptical
· 45 minutes (to one hour) of cardio
· 50 lunges
· 50 crunches
· 10 minute cool down on the treadmill or elliptical to bring your heart rate back down
Fit's Tip: While it was never reported that Jessica starts or ends her routine with stretching, it is always a good idea to stretch before and after working out. Also drink 3 liters of water.

Her Workout
Trainer Ramona Braganza tells how she helped sculpt Alba's bod.
Butt: Since Alba has problematic hip joints, Braganza avoided jumping exercises and opted for either Pilates, walking lunges, light squats or 20 to 30 minutes on an elliptical machine every day. "She's got a beautiful bottom," notes Braganza.
Arms: Alba toned her biceps with various dumbbell curls using 8- to 10-lb. weights; three sets of at least 20 reps. For triceps, she did dips or weighted presses. She worked arms at least twice a week.
Shoulders and Back: Alba worked on these at least twice a week, doing military presses with 10-lb. dumbbells; three sets of 15 reps. She also used light dumbbells for lateral raises. "Her shoulders get a nice square shape," says Braganza.
Chest: Alba alternated dumbbell presses (15 to 20 lbs., three sets of 15 reps) with dumbbell flys (12 to 15 lbs., three sets of 12 reps), done on an incline bench or stability ball.
Abs: For her taut stomach, Alba combined crunches and mat Pilates work daily. "It's gentler but strengthening," says Braganza.
Diet: Alba ate four to five small meals a day, every three hours, usually starting with a shake or oatmeal and fruit. Dinner was salad with chicken or fish.

Jessica Alba - Hollywood's wonder body:
Regarding her workout routine, Jessica said, "I try to work out every day for 45 minutes to an hour. I start out on the treadmills or elliptical machine for 10 to 15 minutes to get my heart rate up to 180 beats per minute. Then I do 50 lunges and crunches. Next I get back on the machine for another 10 minutes. Then I work on shoulders, biceps and triceps. I do that nonstop for four sets. When I work out, I have energy and feel good about myself."

Britney Spears
As Brit always says, we gotta love ourselves for who we are n that includes loving how we look like. Getting obsessed with our bodys n always wanting less here, more there is no good, but taking care of our body n our health is loving us. So take care of your health n your body - yourself - EXERCISING!
"I think that you should be proud of the body that God has given you. Take care of it by eating right and exercising, but be proud of it and of who you are, " Britney.
Did you know that being in your healthy weight helps you avoid cardiovascular illnesses? [It does.] N a recent study says exercising n keeping a healthy lifestyle even help your memory! N did you know that even simply trying to lose weight may mean a longer life? A recent study revealed that overweight people who attempted to lose weight tended to live longer compared to overweight people who did not attempt weight loss. What's more, the effect was observed even if the dieters were not successful in dropping any pounds. But even if you don't need to loose weight, excersing will always help you look n feel better.
Maybe your thing is running or playing some sport, but if you wanna do some excersing like Brit - don't forget to dance for hours!! - n do like she does in the MTV Diary. A warm up, abdominals, strenght circuits, n then do abdominals n cardio again. Remeber that a proper warm-up might help you burn more calories by ensuring that you don't conk out too soon. In a study, exercise that was preceded by a warm-up period produced less lactic acid buildup in muscle and blood. Lactic acid is what causes that burning sensation in your muscles that makes you want to call it quits. So also when you finish, make sure you strech legs and arms for at around 10 minutes so it doesn't hurt the next day!
According to Marie-Anne Foubister Britney's routine is the following, n seeing how it works it's a great thing to copy. But make sure you don't do the same routine day after day. If your body gets used to a certain need [calories, etc] then it won't help your weight or even strengh your body. Still, it does work as maintenance. So weather you use this routine or not make sure you alternate exercises and add or change things form time to time. The best is to start with less [crunches, leg raises, etc] n go adding more every week or so. Same with the weights. The key is to make sure you don't drop the routine. Set one that you know you can follow, and make it 'deeper' when you feel comfortable. A half hour 3 times a week is great. In fact, even when you're in your best exercising moment don't exercise 7 days a weeks. It's important that your muscles can rest.
Onto rest, sleep 8 hours a day. At least not less than 6 - n not more than 10 -. ;) Excersing helps imporove the quality of your rest. However, since it gets your adrenaline levels n temeture up, it will give u a hard time to fall asleep (what you need is exactly the opposite). The best is to exersice before 5pm, but if you can only do it at night make sure you finish 3 hours before getting to bed. To Britney the best time is the morning cos she says it gives her energy to go thru the entire day. N with all the traveling n dancing she does it must be a looot of energy!
"I do yoga, every day when I have a downtime, a lot of stretches and sit-ups. I feel better about myself physically and have more energy," she said to In Style.
So when you get inspired, be sure to get your fair share of vitamins E and C. Research suggests that these two antioxidant vitamins may help speed your muscles' recovery from strenuous exercise. Choose a daily supplement that contains 1,200 milligrams of vitamin C and 400 IU of vitamin E; or at least drink orange juice and add kiwis, strawberries, bell peppers and tomatoes to your diet for vitamin C. We can't get the E from the food, tho. So try getting the vitamins there, it will always be great for u cos it's very important for loads of stuff.
Just one more thing, remember our previous Do Like Brit: drink 2 lts of water a day. When you exersice take some water with you, you'll need it! Just make sure it's not super cold cos that would hurt your body.
BRITNEY'S WORK OUT ROUTINE
90 minutes, four times a week:
°Warm up: 10 minutes on a cardiovascular machine, such as a treadmill or a stationary bike. But only at a medium pace, so as to not tire out too early in the workout.
°Abdominals:50 crunches, 50 bicycle twists & 50 leg raises. Repeat this rountine 3 more time in between weights, making it 600 crunches in all.
°Strength Circuit: Using weights work on the arms, chest, back & lower body. Bicep curls, tricep kickbacks, fly exercises and presses.
°Back to Cardio and Abs: 30 minutes jogging on the treadmill or exercise on an elliptical cross-training machine. Then repeat the same abdominal workout up to three more times in sets of 150 of each exercise.
°Stretch: Lots of stretches after each workout and at least one yoga class a week.
WHAA?? No worries! Here's how to do them:
CRUNCHES
Don't come all the way up like old-fashioned sit-ups, aim to lift your upper body at least 8ins off the ground.
Lie on the floor, making sure your back and the bottom of your feet are flat on the ground so your legs are in an upside down V shape. Put your hands by your head with your elbows out. Now lift your shoulders about 10 inches off the floor using your stomach muscles. Squeeze the abdominal muscles when you do this, pausing at the top for a second. Don't just flop back down though, use your stomach muscles to slowly lower your body. Breathing is important too - breath out as you lift your body, and breath in as you lower.
SIDE CRUNCHES
Stay in the same position as for the crunch, but this time put your knees together then lower them to the left and rest them on the floor. Your body will be slightly twisted. Now draw your tummy up as you did before, and then gently lower. This will work just one side of you stomach, so repeat with your legs on the right side after completing your set.
BICYCLE TWISTS
Still in the crunch position, put your hands behind your head & pull your left leg in to meet your right elbow. Crunch up & down with a twist in your body, swapping from left-knee meeting right-elbow to right-knee meeting left-elbow.
Lie on your back with your legs straight, hands under your head and elbows out by your side. Now lift your legs about 10 inches off the floor. Bring your right knee towards your chest and push your left foot straight out, as you do this draw your tummy up and bring your left elbow over your tummy to touch your right knee. Now reverse the movement to do the other side, moving your legs as if you were riding an imaginary bicycle on your back.
LEG RAISES
Lie on your back with your legs straight up in the air so your feet are pointed to the ceiling. Cross your feet over each other & thrust them towards the ceiling so that your hips come up off the ground by about 4in. Keeping your body at a 90-degree angle to your legs will work the lower abs really hard.
Lie on your back, stick your legs in the air with the soles of your feet pointing up at the ceiling. Now put your arms by your side and your palms flat on the floor, raising your heels towards the ceiling you should do this by pulling with your stomach muscles, not with your back or legs. As you lift breathe out.
ARMS
BICEP CURL
Using 10lb weights, hold one weight in each hand at hip-height with palms facing forward. Keep your elbows tight to your body so the only thing that moves is your forearms. Curl the weight up to your chest (both arms together) then lower in a controlled movement. Repeat 20 times.
TRICEP KICKBACKS
Stand new to a weight bench put closest leg onto the bench in a kneeling position with other leg straight, standing on the floor, holding the weight in the outside hand use your other hand to support you on the bench by bending at the waist. Hold the weight out in front of you and parallel to the floor arm straight. By flexing the lower arm kick the weight back out & behind you son your hand is almost pointing to the roof and back down again, remember to bend at the elbow. Repeat 20 times on each side. After you have done 20 go back to the bicep curls.
CHEST & BACK
FLY EXERCISE
Lie on a bench holding the weight above you with your arms slightly bent, then drop your arms down to the side of you so the weights fall down to chest level. Push them back up to the starting position and repeat.
CHEST PRESS
Lie on a bench holding the weights just above your chest, your arms bent. Stretch your arms out in-front of you to their full extension, slower lower to starting position and repeat.
SEATED ROW & LAT PULL-DOWN'S USING GYM MACHINES
SHOULDERS
FREE WEIGHT SHOULDER PRESS
Hold barbells straight above your head with arms stretched out fully, bend your arms until the weights sit just above your shoulders and push up again.
LOWER BODY: Britney doesn't do leg weights work, the 30 minute cardio workout in the middle of her session keeps her legs, hips and bottom perfectly toned. Only balance board work.
BACK TO CARDIO & ABS
The second cardio workout is longer, a 30 minute stint. Either on the treadmill jogging or using an elliptical cross-training machine which works legs and bottom almost like running on the spot crossed with stepping. Then repeat the same abdominal workout up to three more times in sets of 150.
Brit: "She's fond of her mom's food but it tends to be carb heavy and calorific. I've told her to cut out barbeque sauces and gravies, and eat more protein - especially on tour. She also needs complex carbs such as brown rice, veggies and wholegrain breads."
"I think that you should be proud of the body that God has given you. Take care of it by eating right and exercising, but be proud of it and of who you are, " Britney.

Asin’s Beauty Secrets
How do you stay fit?
My health routine is pretty simple: I eat well and exercise whenever I get the time. I like to do cardiovascular exercises. I have a fit body and I like to stay healthy. This keeps me motivated and committed to my health routine.
Are you a careful eater?
Not really. That’s because I have a healthy metabolism, I don’t put on weight easily and I am still quite young! I eat a balanced diet that includes carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats. One food habit that I always stick to is eating breakfast as early as possible.
What do you eat on a given day?
For breakfast I have oats, fruits and 2 eggs; lunch consists of roti/rice, vegetables and some chicken/fish. Dinner is usually light-I have carbs, chicken/fish and salad. For snacking, I stick to fruits and nuts. Again, thankfully, tea and coffee have no place on my list of drinks. I am hooked to coconut water, instead.
On a free day, what would you do to relax?
I try to get some more sleep for sure. It keeps my mind and body fresh. If I am in the mood for some pampering, I get a head and foot massage. That feels like heaven! I also spend time with my parents, and finally, curl up with a book.
Any bad food habits that you want to kick?
Not really. I’m not a foodie. I don’t eat out often. Even when I am shooting, I get a dabba from home. I like sweets, but usually have just a bite or two.
How do you maintain your gorgeous looks?
I don’t make a big fuss but stick to basic CTM (cleansing-toning and moisturising). The fact that I have sensitive skin also limits my options when it comes to using products. For my hair I trust Kerastase, and oily head massages. They work for me.

Asin is a Water & Milk Baby
Asin's thought for food
I am: A non-vegetarian.
Diet Regime:
I start my day with: A cup of oats or a bowl of muesli and some fruit. Sometimes, I have an egg or idlis.
The minute I get up: I have to have my breakfast. I am an early riser — I am usually up by 6 am. But it depends on my schedule — if I have slept late then I wake up at around 9 am.
A traditional Malayalee breakfast is: Appam, idli dosa or utta payam which is made of fruit or puttu kadala which is made of chana.
I am not a: Coffee or tea drinker. I am actually a water and milk baby.
My favourite fruits are: Mango, jackfruit, custard apple, different types of bananas.
I lunch on: A few chapattis or a bowl of rice with vegetables. There are usually pulses for protein. I also love fish.
My favourite vegetable: Carrots.
My lunch is prepared by: My mom. She is responsible for my food, so I carry my food to the sets. I am not fussy about food and I don't mind having unit food. But since mom makes it with so much love and care, I make it a point to have the dabba that she has made.
Lunch on the sets: Is amazing. In the South, the variety you are offered is mind-blowing. I am not exaggerating, there are eight different items. But, as I told you, I carry my own food.
My favourite Kerala dish: Rice and prawns — eating that is sheer bliss.
Food on the sets of Ghajini: Aamir loves south Indian food. He was on a strict diet, so I would tempt him with chocolates and ice creams.
I snack on: Fruits or coconut water or nuts. I have an early dinner but I don't have any snack thereafter.
My dinner: Is usually quite early, at around seven pm, if I am at home. But it's delayed if I am shooting. I have whatever mom has made. In Malayalee it's called palhara. Mom usually likes to have rice but I don't have rice for dinner. There is kappa and meen, which is tapioca and fish or we have rice porridge, also known as kanji. I also have eggs or chicken for dinner.
My favourite desserts: I don't have any sweets. I prefer fruits. I enjoy Indian sweets more than foreign chocolate, because there is so much variety — jalebis, laddoos, Mysore pak, payasam. I love Indian sweets but I indulge in them only occasionally. At home, I am the least health-conscious person. My mom and dad are more health-conscious than I am, so fortunately there is no temptation. I don't have that big a sweet tooth, I can resist sweets but if somebody offers them, I don't mind having them.
My fitness regime: I do cardio and when I get the time, I do weights.
Other Favourites: A childhood memory associated with food: A fruit called chamba used to grow in my backyard. It was a pink fruit that would become red when ripe. I don't think it has a Hindi or English name. I used to love that fruit. One day, my mum sent me to school with a packet of this fruit to give my friends; and they just loved it. Soon the whole school came to know about it and they would ask me for the 'pink fruit' because they didn't know the name (I went to the Naval Public School and there were a lot of North Indian girls studying there). So in school, I became famous as the 'pink fruit girl'. Also my friends used to come home for 'more curry' (pulisheri), which is made of curd and turmeric. I was known by colourful food — pink fruit and yellow curry.
In my fridge you will always find: Fruits. There is no junk food.
My Sunday Meal: We don't have a special Sunday lunch. In Kerala, we would have a lot of non-vegetarian items with appam.
I feel guilty about eating: Indian sweets.
Eating out: I don't eat out so I don't have any favourite restaurants.
My favourite cuisines are: Indian, Chinese, Italian and Thai and sometimes Mexican.
My favourite spice is: Chilli. I love spicy food more than sweet.
My favourite beverage: Coconut water.
My favourite poison: I don't drink.
My idea of a romanic meal: I like the backwaters in Kerala — they have nice hotels and houseboats on which they cook fish on the houseboat. I would like to eat traditional food.
Asin's favourite recipe: Fish molee
ingredients
1/2 kg fish fillets

soft lips - vaseline is deff. the best thing for soft lips.
soft feet - rub petroleum jelly all over your feet at night and wear cotton socks while you sleep. it`ll smooth out the rough spots!
extra shine - add a tiny bit of vaseline to your lashes and brows for extra shine !
zits ! - tooth paste gets rid of zits fast !! i know it`s weird, but it dries up the zit !!
FOR THE NAiLS »
tip - when the skin near the nail starts to peel off, put almond oil on your nails ! it moisturizes the skin so it will lessen the peeling !
quick dry - to make your nails dry faster, wait about a minute after you`re done painting, stick them in ice cold water ! it works !
for more tips look in makeup matters & hair stuff !! <33 hope i helped!
>zits ! - tooth paste gets rid of zits fast !! i know it`s weird, but it dries up the zit !!
contrary to popular belief, toothpaste is NOT good to use on zits. instead try aloe vera gel or a thin lotion with Vitamin E. (Caress lotion with vitamin E is great). These will also heal the scar from the zit
>Caress lotion with vitamin E. its great! its cheap since its not one of those fancy "facial moisturizers" and the vitamin E clears up zits and scars. also it moisturizes without being too thick or oily for your skin

Forever young? Why not!
Forever young? Why not!
And may you stay forever young!’ sang urban folk singer Joan Baez a decade ago. Now there is a way to turn that wish into a reality! Read on and find out how…
The proverbial fountain of youth is as real as our lifestyle choices. And we all know that. Yet one chases good looks and happiness at botox clinics and in the neighborhood shrink’s office. The task of changing one’s mindset, habits and inability to make an effort is what makes the elusive youthful looks seem farther than ever. Here are a few simple rules to live by, which are sure to help you look younger than your years.
Drink it up!
Water therapy has been long touted as a solution to many body ills. Lack of water in the body can lead to sluggishness and even de-motivation. Not only does drinking water keep you energetic throughout the day, it flushes the body cells of environmental toxins. Apart from water, other fluids that will help you keep full and peppy are fruit juices - especially sweet lime, orange and watermelon- and herbal teas.
Eat sensibly:
Avoid fried food stuff completely. For every-day cooking, switch to healthier oils like olive oil or sunflower oil, canola or sesame oil. Don’t starve yourself. Rather eat small portions but more number of meals in the day. Focus should be on high-fibre and protein diet. Limit carbohydrates and fats to natural sources like pulses and nuts rather than going for pastas and cheese. Natural fat that is good for the body can be had from avocados, peanuts and other vegetables that help protect the heart. Get your dose of vitamins and minerals through fresh fruits, skimmed milk and veggies.
If you can, stick to the ‘no food after 7.00 pm’ rule. A lighter meal in the evenings should be a matter of daily habit. A soup or a whole-wheat sandwich could be substituted for a full course meal.
Wellness mantra:
Yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercises will give you the kick needed to feel great about life. Breathing deep helps you relieve stress while also clearing out the lungs. These also help in stretching your muscles and weight loss. Meditation will help you forget niggling worries and focus on that which is important in life. The three activities put together tone up the inner body and this shows in a happier and glowing countenance.
Sleep well:
Lack of sleep can add a decade to your face. It also causes a wooly-headed response to most life situations that could lead to further stress. If your work keeps you up at nights, remember that research has shown that retention and performance is better if you sleep well. You might just hit upon a solution in the morning to a work problem, after a fitful night sleep. Sleep also helps your face muscles to relax and helps skin cells regenerate.
Laugh a lot:
Don’t fear laugh lines cause nothing can make you look more youthful than laughter full of abandon! Serious looking expressions are considered natural accompaniments of ageing but need it be so? Laughter therapy is said to trigger the release of endorphins, body’s natural painkillers that also help you handle any stress better.
Over-exfoliation can backfire:
Subjecting your skin to abrasive facials can reduce its’ immunity in the long run. Go for gentle peels derived from organic matter and essential oils. Don’t rely excessively on artificial methods for that youthful glow. Work on the inside too. A monthly trip to the salon is helpful for a groomed look though.
It’s never too late to start exercising: Weave body movement into your daily schedule. This can be done by walking to work, taking the stairs or socializing on the go. Exercise also helps you sleep well which in turn helps your skin tone.
Shun sugar:
Inflammation can cause aging in skin and one reason why inflammation occurs is a rapid rise in blood sugar. Increase in sugar levels can also make the skin stiff and inflexible affecting its elastic resilience. Go natural; opt for honey or jaggery instead.
Try out these steps and you’ll see that not only will you end up feeling youthful; it will sit light on your pocket too!

Diana Penty
Meet the girl who replaced Deepika Padukone
Supermodel Diana Penty, who has replaced Deepika Padukone as the brand ambassador of Maybelline, talks to Screen about her endorsements, films, likes and dislikes!
Your favourite piece of clothing?
I could live in a great pair of jeans and a basic white tunic!
Where do you shop for clothes?
I normally shop for clothes whenever I'm travelling. My favourite shops are Mango, Zara, Bershka, Miss Sixty, Forever 21 & Bebe. I'm quite picky when it comes to shoes. I like pretty flat sandals for the day and high heels for the night! I usually find a good variety at Aldo and Charles & Keith.
Your recent best buy?
A black evening dress from Bebe that I picked up in L.A. It fits really well and that's what makes it such a good buy!
What do the term fashion/ style mean to you?
Fashion to mean is about individuality and personality. I think its important to keep in mind what suits you best in terms of your body and personality as opposed to just blindly following the current trend. If you can adapt these current trends to your personal style in a way that is effortless, I'd say you're fashionable!
Your five secrets for a great complexion?
Drink lots of water, get enough sleep, eat right (lots of fruit and vegetables), exercise regularly, use a cleanse-tone- moisturize routine and use sun-block before stepping out.
And your five secrets for a prefect physique?
To be in great shape, there are unfortunately no short-cuts! One has to eat correct and work out. And these days there are so many interesting activities that one can do to achieve a desired physique. From belly-dancing to spinning workouts, there are plenty of options. But it is important to be disciplined in your workout.
************************
The new face of Maybelline and a known face on international ramps, Diana Penty is definitely the one to watch out for this year.
USP: "I think my strength is my height," she says, "and my narrow structure. I think it fits the look most designers have in mind." Fitness regime: "The truth is I have always been on the smaller side," says Penty. "When I was younger, I went through a phase when I desperately tried putting on weight. Today, I can use this to my advantage. I eat everything under the sun and more than any of my friends! I workout and used to do yoga. I must confess that I don't need hard workouts to stay in shape though."
Why you love being a model: It's a good feeling to be recognised.
The dark side of modelling: You're always under scrutiny. You have to be ready to be judged at all times.
The WLIFW experience: It was amazing, working with the best professionals in the industry. It was hectic, but great. There was phenomenal exposure. Of course, there is pressure to perform, but that is part of the game.
Shows she did: Cue, Deepika Govind, Krishna Mehta, Rocky S, Suneet Verma.
Favourite designers: Wendell Rodricks, Ranna Gill and Monisha Jaisingh.
My killer party look is: simple, elegant and classy in a dress and high heel.
On a day out with the gals, I would wear: jeans, top and flip-flops or flats.
I shop till I drop in: Paris and London
I splurge on: shoes and clothes
Best bargain buy: when I was in Sri Lanka, I bought tunics off the street which look like designer stuff.
Fashion disaster is: what happens when you dress to get noticed!
I wouldn't be caught dead in: animal prints.
My bad hair day rescue operation: I have never had a bad hair day, so I guess it's mostly prevention.
Hottest actors: George Clooney and Farhan Akhtar.
Most beautiful actor: Angelina Jolie
One thing I want to buy: a Mac notebook
I can't live without: Chocolates

Shruthi Agarwal
Shruthi Agarwal: “I craved for roti and milk”
When she was offered the chance to pose for the Kingfisher Calendar in 2006, model Shruti Agarwal wasn’t too thrilled with the idea. She wanted her parents’ permission to begin with, and she also wanted to know how aesthetic – as opposed to crass – the swimsuit shoot would actually be.
“On the day of the test shoot all the calendar girls were told about their weak areas – parts from where we had to lose weight and also tone up. We only had three months,” recalls Shruti. “I drastically needed to tone up my waist and thighs.” She didn’t need to lose weight, but with only three months to get in perfect shape, Shruti exercised twice a day, for 45 minutes in the morning and an hour every evening. And as for routines, she did everything, from yoga to the gym.
Since weight training doesn’t suit Shruti at all, she avoided it as far as possible though her trainer insisted on 15 minutes of basic weights every day to bulk out her too-thin arms. After that, she did 15 minutes of sit-ups, followed by a mix of yoga and pilates. And Shruti swears by the surya namaskar. “Two hundred and fifty repetitions of the surya namaskar were enough cardio for me,” she says. “I used to get all sweaty after it. Contrarily, I also felt refreshed.”
For the 2008 calendar shoot however, Shruti felt she’d done better. And that was because she was on a very, very strict diet. Following a diet chart created for her body type, Shruti was put on a protein-rich, carb-free routine for three months, during which she had one protein bar a day, grilled fish or chicken, salads and sprouts. No rice or roti, no dairy. Not even milk, which she loves.
“For breakfast, I had fruit, egg white and fruit juices. Sometimes I cheated and had the whole egg, but when I did that, I’d have to work out harder to compensate,” she says. Dinner was always a light meal, and always eaten before 9 pm. But though the diet was well planned and balanced, keeping Shruti feeling good and energetic, she missed the food she loves. “I craved roti, milk and chocolate,” the pretty model says.
It wasn’t enough to get in shape for the shoot. Shruti had to make sure she was picture perfect on the day of the shoot itself. “I avoided water,” she says, “Because it tends to bloat the stomach and that would show in the pictures. I also had a very light breakfast very early in the morning.”

Pia Trivedi
Pia Trivedi: “I lived on protein shakes”
The transition from model to bikini model goes like this. “The first time (for the Kingfisher calendar) I only got three months to prepare. So I worked out twice a day,” says Pia. “Since I needed to lose weight, I focused on cardio and restricted my diet, which was very tough on me. Giving up food was mental torture, because food is a very important part of my life. I had to live only on boiled vegetables, fruits and salads.”
In spite of that, Pia wasn’t satisfied with her body. “I thought I looked fat in the calendar. My stomach and thighs sucked! Also, since I was very new in modeling, I had no clue about camera angles, so I Atul Kasbekar, the photographer, fired me many times.”
The next time round therefore, for the Kingfisher Calendar 2005, Pia made her fitness regimen tougher. “I stopped eating for three months before the shoot, which is the worst thing to do,” she says. “I almost lived on protein shakes. And as a result, my ribs showed. I went to the extreme and I don’t recommend it to anyone.”
The first thing she did after the shoot was demand butter chicken and rumali rotis. But since then, she hasn’t been so extreme.
“I don’t follow any diet and it’s been really long since I last worked out,” she confesses. “I tend to let go and then, before an important shoot, go in for drastic measures to get fit. Otherwise, I gorge on anything that is Mughlai and Punjabi, tubs full of ice-cream and glasses of cold coffee.”
Sounds like sacrilege…

Mugdha Godse
Mugdha Godse: “I carry soya sticks”
This figure is the result of not a few months’ or a year’s worth of preparation, but a regimented, disciplined routine through much of her adult life. “I didn’t get the figure for a bikini overnight,” says Mugdha. “I have been looking after my body since I was 17.”
A summer job at a gym while Mugdha was in college gave her all the knowledge she needed to instill the tenets of fitness in her life. Also, her habit of swimming regularly – a habit instilled by her father – helped her maintain her body.
Since gymming gets dull after a time, Mugdha jazzes up her workouts with different types of workouts – 45 minutes of yoga or Kathak or gymming or jogging on the beach every day.
Power yoga she dismisses as a new age fad, so she prefers the standard yoga asanas and surya namaskar. In the gym, Mugdha divides her work-outs according to the three areas of her body – legs, back and biceps, chest and triceps, with intervals of cardio, including Kathak.
She has also been on a high-protein, regimented diet since she was 17. Mugdha doesn’t binge on unnecessary carbohydrates – rotis and bread are okay, croissants and chips are sins. Breakfast consists of poha, or egg white, upma or toast, and coffee with sugar is her only indulgence.
“I eat every two to three hours to keep my metabolism going,” says the actress. “I carry soya sticks in my car and the moment I feel as though I’m starving, I binge on them. I never let my body starve.”
Lunch comprises grilled chicken or fish or sabzi and one roti. And dinner consists of idli-sambhar or salad and grilled fish again. When she’s hungry, she pops a protein bar. And she never touches rice. If this sounds too grim for daily consumption, Mugdha doesn’t find it so. She’s been following this diet for so long that she’s used to the discipline, she says. “I don’t crave carbs anymore,” says she.
But you shouldn’t give up carbs altogether, she adds. “An intelligent addition of proteins in the diet constructively utilise carbs and doesn’t let them turn into fat,” says Mugdha.
